Dr. Hossein Baharvand

Biology

Born in 1972, Hossein Baharvand obtained his Ph.D degree in 2004 in the field of Developmental Biology. He is currently associate professor and head of Department of Stem Cells and Developmental Biology at Royan Institute (2002-now). He established the first mouse and human embryonic stem cells in Iran (2003). Later his team has generated several human embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells (2008). This has enabled them to pursue many avenues of scientific research center into methods of generating therapeutic cells from stem cells. He has published 78 international and 83 national peer-reviewed papers, as well as 4 chapters in international books and 9 books in Persian. He is editor of « Trends in Stem Cell Biology and Technology » book (2009, Humana press, Springer, USA). He is editorial board member of five international journals.

Prof. Dr. Ulmas Mirsaidov

Chemistry

Professor Ulmas Mirsaidov was born November 10, 1945 in Uroteppa town of the Republic of Tajikistan. He has graduated from the Moscow Chemical – Technological Institute named after D.I. Mendeleev in 1967. From 1967 to 1970 he has worked as assistant of the Chair of Chemical Technology of the Tajik Polytechnical Institute. In 1970 he entered Post Graduate Courses of the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of USSR, which he graduated successfully in 1973 and defended the title of Kandidat Nauk (Doctor Degree), he is the Director of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency from 2005 till present time. Professor Ulmas Mirsaidov is Eminent Scientist in the field of Chemistry and Technolgoy of Inorganic Hydrides, Mineral Row Materials, and Industrial Wastes, he was the first person in Tajikistan who began Systematic Investigations of the Light Metals and Energetically Capacious Materials. Prof Mirsaidov is the author of more than 300 scientific publications, 7 monographs and 70 patents of the USSR, Tajikistan and Russia

 

Prof. Dr. M Qassim Jan

Geology

Dr. Qasim Jan is a renowned geologist and a reputed academician. For over 40 years, he has made sustained contributions to the mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, tectonics, and seismology of the northwest Himalaya. He has conducted a number of collaborative projects with scientists from USA, UK, other European Countries, Japan and China. He has some 245 publications, many in national and international journals with strong referee system. He obtained his Ph.D from the University of London in 1977 and was awarded DSc (Honorary) degree by King’s College London in 2009. He has undertaken Post Doctoral research at the universities of Oregon and Oklahoma, (USA), Leicester, (UK Twice), and Dartmouth College, USA.
He has held the posts of Director of the Center of Excellence in Geology, Univ. Of Peshawar. Vice Chancellor of the University of Peshawar, Sarhad University of Peshawar, and Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Currently he is Secretary General of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS), Islamabad, and Association of the Academies of Sciences in Asia.iv.

 

Prof. Dr. Zaid Odibat

Mathematics Zaid Odibat received his Ph.D from the University of Jordan (Jordan) in 2002. Since 2002 he has been at Al-Balqa’ Applied University. In Nov. 2008, he left Al-Balqa’ Applied University to spend one year at the University of Le Havre in France.
His research in islamic science and technology, interest includes fractional calculus, numerical analysis, ordinary and partial differential equations, Numerical solution of fractional nonlinear systems, nonlinear dynamics, Chaos, control and synchronization of fractional order systems. He has been published more than 65 research papers in international journals and more than 10 referred papers in international conferences. In 2009, he has been awarded the Scopus award for Jordanian scientists. Recently, in the beginning of 2010, he has been classified as one of the top scientists in the world in fractional differential equations according to Thomson ISI Web of knowledge

 

.Prof. Dr. Mohammed M Shabat

Physics

Mohammed M. Shabat was born in Beit Hanoun, Gaza Strip, Palestine in 1960. He received his B.Sc in Physics from Al-Aazhar University, Cairo, Egypt in 1984 and Ph.D. degree from the Universtiy of Salford, U.K in 1990. He was a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK, from 1989 to 1992.
In April 1992, he joined the Physics Departement at the Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) as an Assistant Professor of Physics. He became an Associate Professor in 1996 and a Professor of Physics in 2000. in the period 2001-2005, he was the Vice President for Administrative Affairs at IUG. He was as visiting Professor in Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems, Dresden, Germany. He is currently the Vice-president for Academic Affairs at IUG.
He published more than 190 papers in international journals in Optical Science, physics, mathematics and education and presented many papers at local and international conferences. His research interests include Nonlinear optical sensor, opto-electronics, magneto static surface waves, numerical techniques, mesoscopic systems, energy, applied mathematics astrophysics and physics education.

 

.Prof. Dr. Mohamed Amin Embi

Technology

Dr. Mohamed Amin is a Professor of Technology Enhanced Learning at the Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He graduated from Brock University, Canada (B.A. Hons.) and University of Leeds, UK (M.Ed. TESOL & Ph.D). Currently, he is the Deputy Director (e-Learning), Centre of Academic Advancement, UKM. He is the founder of numerous Educational portals including Virtual Teacher Education Centre (VirTEC), ELT Online Teacher Resource Centre (ELT-TReC), e-Learning Online Kiosk (eLOK) and Malaysian e-Learning Research Network (My eLeaRN) as well as LMSs including e-Learning Management System (e-MaS), Self-access e-Learning Management System (SaLMaS) and Second Language Instruction Management System (SLIM). He is the Chief Editor of VirTEC Journal (2000-2003), Internet Journal of e-Learning (2003-2007), Malaysian Online Journal of Instructional Technology & e-Learning (2007-present) and the Executive Editor of ASEAN Journal of Teaching & Learning in Higher Education (2009-present). He is the President of Malaysian Mobile Learning Association and Chairman of Malaysian IHL e-Learning Council. He received numerous awards from UKM for R&D; in e-Learning including Innovative and Creative Award (2003, 2004), Information Management Award (2004), Best Teaching Award (2005, 2006), Young Researcher’s Award (2003) and Excellent Service Award (2006). Besides publishing more than 150 articles in journal and proceedings, he has also published more than 40 books and chapters in book on e-Learning. He has also successfully supervised 20 Ph.D. and 40 Master students over the past 10 years. He was the first recipient of the National Academic Award introduced by Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia in 2006 and recently awarded the Outstanding Malay Award 2007 by the government of Malaysia for his outstanding academic achievements in e-learning.
